Virginia Norrie Trained in massage, kinesiology, dance (classical, contemporary, Contact Improv & African in Australia, New Zealand, London, Amsterdam and Budapest), Virginia's extraordinarily broad training gives her a unique perspective to the dance world. Trained in contemporary dance in London at the Laban Centre for Movement & Dance in 85 and 86 led her to join a London Butoh inspired company 'Collusion' before coming home to Australia to do her Master of Arts in Dance Performance in '94/95 at the University of Western Sydney. Her love and training in Natural Therapies and dance has melded to her love of dance as a therapy. Virginia has worked with toddlers, teens, women and intellectually disabled adults with her passion for African dance and yoga. Virginia has run workshops for Women in healing and dance at Health centres on the Central Coast and at many festivals in NSW. Virginia ran her Tribal Dance classes on the Central Coast for 7 years and taught yoga for 2 of those years finding that women needed a release from their everyday lives, a place for passion through movement and yoga. Her move up to the Northern Rivers has seen her teach African dance as well as Anatomy for Dancers at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium and hold workshops for women. Virginia combines her other great love of singing to the mix having completed her Bch of Contemporary Music at S.C.U. majoring in voice in 2003. Virginia has choreographed and performed with Contact Earth Dance performing at Byron Bay’s Big Feet, Little Feet showcase 04.05, Lismore Herb Festival 05 and 2High Festival, Qpac, Brisbane 05. Virginia has been a main contributor to NORPA Dance Actions projects, including; coordinating Senior’s Week Dance Event 05, Dance Week Lismore Event 05 and coordinator for WEW Into the Groove ’05.
